5 Quick Cribbage Strategies

Posted by Andrew L on

1. Knowing what to lead with is important. Going low with an A, 2, 3 or 4 will make it harder for your opponent to make a 15 on their next play. And with that, avoid leading with a 5 as your opponent could easily score 2 points by playing a 10 count card.

2. Remember to save a low card to use later in play. This will make it easier for you as the score gets closer to 31.

3. As you start putting cards into the Crib, avoid cards that add up to 5. Also, remember to not discard cards with the same suit.

4. When discarding face cards, consider thowing in a King, because Queens or Jacks are so much easier to make runs with.

5. And remember to not get hung up on only scoring 15s. There are many other ways to score in the game, look for them.
